The steadiness, wide tuning range and tune holding ability, relaxed blowing technique and incredibly bold and rich tone that comes along with these drones is unworldly. To top it all off, Jeffers drones have a super integrated balance between bass and tenor drones that will give you the edge over your competition. Tuning the bass drone to your matched tenor drones is the easiest among any highland bagpipe drones in the world. My drones feature a strong tuning pulse between the bass and tenors so that as you tune it makes finding and getting to the wide tuning spot a breeze.
My method:
I didn’t simply just try to copy an old bagpipe then make a couple of small tweaks to the design. I studied old drone designs intensively, then set forth with over a decade of trial and error with bore designs. This led to my proprietary bore designs. My pipes are unlike any other highland bagpipe in the world and perform both in tone and performance like no other! Jeffers bagpipes are played at the very highest level of bagpipe competitions representing the very pinnacle of performance, no one else comes close.
Please note:
I make two different styles of drones , My "Classic" bores and my "Nitro Express" bores. Both are very powerful drone designs with the Nitro bores being slightly more voluminous and throaty, but not overwhelmingly so. My Classic bores are slightly more focused but still very voluminous and harmonic. Most pipers currently play my Classic bores at the world championships.
